Who we are
Who we are
It’s evident that the ever-growing coffee culture is a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately for co-founder Alex Antonescu, coffee was a luxury he was unable to enjoy due to his lack of palate and general distaste in the warm roasted delicacy. However, Alex was infatuated with the deep invigorating smell that was associated with coffee. On the other hand, co-founder Mitchell Pfautz was all too familiar with coffee culture having established himself as a regular in local Southern California coffee shops. As both Concordia University graduates traveled to places like England, Thailand, China, Australia, Romania, and Greece they were overtaken by the actual depth and tradition that was related to coffee, so they decided to act. After much research the pair decided to design a coffee-based skincare system that could help target skin ailments such as dry skin, acne, stretch marks, cellulite, eczema, psoriasis, and etc. Thus was born Joe’s Cup of Scrub in a small apartment in West side Costa Mesa. With a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Business, Alex and Mitchell were able to create a small batch, organic coffee-based scrub with the help of local Southern California roasters. Organic, local, and effective skin-care are all part of an engraved philosophy here at Joe’s Cup of Scrub.
-Organic roasted coffee grounds assist with exfoliation as well as vasodilation. The caffeine in coffee enables vasodilation (helping bring blood to surface of the skin) which in turn promotes healing and causes a natural radiance of the skin.
-Brown sugar naturally contains glycolic acid which helps fight bacteria.
-Cinnamon assists in re-oxidation of the skin by promoting skin cell circulation.
-Black Hawaiian lava salt is charcoal infused sea salt that forms naturally near ground pools close to volcanoes in Hawaii. Lava salt is known to remove harmful impurities as well as exfoliate the skin.
-Coconut oil is exceptional at moisturizing and hydrating the skin.
Scrub away dead flakey skin with roasted coffee grounds, thereby bringing blood to the surface of the skin allowing for a natural radiance. Cinnamon assists in re-oxidation of the skin by promoting skin cell circulation. Cleanse and clarify with brown sugar and black Hawaiian lava sea salt. Lastly, your skin is hydrated and moisturized with cold pressed coconut oil.
